11 Rudolph Seekers

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
You know Conner and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen,
But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer
Has a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it,
You would even say it glows.

All of the little children used to laugh and sing along
Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer was one of their very favorite songs.
Then one jolly Christmas Eve, an uncle came to say--
"Wanna see Rudolph with his nose so bright guide dear Santa's sleigh tonight?"

Oh how the children giggled
and they shouted out with glee
For Santa soaring through the night air
Was a sight they really wished to see.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer
Has a very shiny nose
I know because I saw it--
It's true that it really glows.

Santa and all of his reindeer
Landed on Grandma's roof
And when we returned from searching
There were presents beneath the tree--it's the truth!

Proof that Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer
Visited on Christmas Eve
His shiny nose guided dear Santa
Over the hills and through the trees.

Year after year we search for him
Though you'd probably laugh to see
Eleven grown cousins looking to the sky
Searching for Rudolph on Christmas Eve.

A special thanks to my uncles who started this tradition of Reindeer-Seeking on Christmas Eve when there were only three of us--and who let us pester them into going out year after year after year ever since. Eleven cousins (and a few aunts and significant others) continue to search the skies for Rudolph's red nose.
